INSTRUCTIONS
Record a video of yourself singing a verse and chorus of any song that you think suits your voice the best. Make sure the audio is as clear as possible and is free of background noise.
DO NOT EDIT YOUR AUDIO (EQ, compression, reverb, pitch correction, etc.) DO NOT SING WITH ANY BACKGROUND TRACKS OR INSTRUMENTS.
Then….
Upload the video to YouTube (unlisted) and place the link in the audition form above
OR
Upload the video directly to the audition form above (must be 100MB or less)
Fill out the form completely
And you will hear back from us soon after the audition period ends.
FAQ
Q: Are we meeting in person in Fall 2023?
A: Yes, we plan to meet in person this semester! Of course, we will monitor the latest COVID 19 information to ensure that we’re always putting the safety of our members first. We do have experience rehearsing from home as well, so know that no matter what happens, the group will continue to make music!
Q: Can I audition in person rather than virtually?
A: Yes, see in-person audition info here
Q: Should I audition in person then?
A: There is no advantage to either audition method, so please do whatever makes you the most comfortable.
Q: Do I have to go to school at GMU to audition?
A: No, however, you must be able to regularly make rehearsals at the GMU Fairfax campus.
Q: Are there additional audition steps after we hear back?
A: Yes, we will be having callbacks shortly after the audition period ends.
Q: Can I audition with a friend or group of people?
A: Yes but you must all audition separately (we want to hear only your voice).
Q: Can I play a starting note for my audition song?
A: Yes, this will not penalize you in any way.
Q: What style of music does MSN sing?
A: We sing mostly contemporary pop and R&B, but ultimately we perform whatever our members are excited about!
